This old Priory church with its Roman style radiates charm and austerity. It overlooks the Drac Valley and offers a magnificent view of the cliffs of Vercors up until Mont Aiguille.
The church of Notre-Dame de Commiers is part of a complex of buildings that was once a priory.
It governed all the parishes on the right bank of the Drac. It is now privately owned.
This Romanesque church underwent numerous transformations up to the 19th century, including a reversal of its orientation. Its shape is atypical.
To better understand what this church was like, you can see a 15th-century painting above the main altar, depicting it in its original layout.
