Grenoble is fortunate to be surrounded by majestic mountains. In just a few strides for the more adventurous, or by taking the cable car, you can discover the Bastille and quickly gain height. It’s a great way to get away from it all, while still remaining within easy reach of the city centre. At the foot of the Vercors mountains, you can also discover the Sassenage vats cave. Also there are a number of sensitive natural areas where you can wander through unspoilt countryside.
